Before packing your bags, be sure to follow our guide to make the most of your vacation!

Manage Your Time and Take a Break

Although the majority of professionals still check their email while on vacation, staying online could make you less productive. In fact, 58% of people who don’t take vacation feel overwhelmed, 21% feel disorganized, and only 3% feel creative while at work. To avoid this, vacation gives you the opportunity to get away, unplug, and experience the world around you to gain inspiration and maintained productivity. In fact, the #1 feeling professionals report after returning from vacation is refreshed.

To begin, be sure to work with your manager well in advance to choose the right time to take off and make sure you are aligned on expectations. Also, speak with your team and be clear with your point of contact to handle any urgent matters for peace of mind.

Don’t Bother Your Colleagues

About 67% of people say they would contact colleagues about work-related matters while the colleague in on vacation. Think twice before hitting send and allow your coworkers the same disconnect you want to create a system that everyone is comfortable unplugging. Ultimately, you should be able to cover them and in return, they will cover you. Set up the last resort plan in case something urgent arises and if you must get in touch, keep it to texting versus email and only contact at the end of the day.

We hope these steps have given you an idea of how important it is to disconnect and to maintain productivity and allow yourself “me” time. It is okay and it is important to use all your vacation days. For more blogs like this one, head on over to our website!
