Ace the Job Interview

June 15, 2018

Sitting nervously in a seat while anxiously anticipating which questions will loom over you is no way to approach an interview confidently. Yeah, it’s okay to be nervous, and maybe even a little sweaty, but staying focused and prepared is crucial to leaving a positive impression on the interviewer. So buckle up and put your game face on; in the blog post we’ll be giving you tips on how to approach your interview confidently while leaving a positive first impression.

Be Fully Prepared

Before entering an interview, you will want to make sure you’re fully prepared to speak and elaborate on key points regarding your life, previous experience, and about the company you’re interviewing with. It’s always a good idea to do some research on the company before going into an interview. You’ll want to know things like their mission statement, opportunities of promotion, and the competitive industry. This will also help you find important things that you can ask them about. In addition to researching the company, creating a list comprised of your personal selling points will be important. These selling points include things like personal skills, why you think you’re the best candidate for the job, and what opportunities the job offers that you find valuable. And most importantly, why you want the job.

Perfect Your Responses

Next, you’ll want to anticipate the interviewer’s concerns and reservations. For instance, your college GPA may be a tad underwhelming, so preparing responses regarding questions of this sort will be necessary. Along with answering questions, you will need to prepare some of your own. When the interviewer asks you if you have any questions, you should already have one or two questions prepared. If the interviewer asks you if you have any questions and you reply “no” or “not really,” it is not going to look good. With that said make sure you prepare questions before; you could also have a question during the interview.

Finally, body language. Make sure you attend the interview well-dressed. Eye contact, a firm handshake, and good posture are also important body language habits. Last, but not least, skip the cologne and perfume! We hope these tips will guide and prepare you for your next interview. To find your next job, visit the search bar at Get Hired Local.
